THE FIRST RELIGIOUS PROFESSION AT EMMAUS NOVITIATE, SECHU-ZUBZA – 2025

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I dedicated you; a prophet to the nations, I appointed you.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

On 24th May 2025, the novices of the Emmaus Salesian Novitiate from the Provinces of Dimapur and Guwahati made their First Religious Profession under the guidance of the Novice Master, Rev. Fr. V.A. Thomas SDB, and the formation team.
The celebration, which coincided with the Feast of Mary Help of Christians, was held at St. Maria Goretti Church, Sechu-Zubza, at 9:30 AM. The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Rev. Fr. Joseph Pampackal SDB, the Provincial, along with Fr. Deli David Kapani SDB, the Vice Provincial, and many other priests.
The solemn occasion was graced by the presence of numerous priests, religious, family members, and relatives who gathered to witness this significant milestone and to pray for the newly professed brothers. During his homily, Fr. Provincial reflected on the role of Mary Help of Christians in the life of Don Bosco, quoting the well- known words, “Mary did it all.” He also extended heartfelt congratulations to the newly professed brothers and expressed his gratitude to their parents for their generosity in offering their sons to the service of the Church and the Salesian Congregation.
The novices professed their religious vows in the presence of Fr. Provincial, with Fr. Verghese SDB and Fr. Jogesh SDB serving as official witnesses. In addition, four Salesian Cooperators made their promises during the ceremony. Following the Holy Mass, the Christ King Kohima Catholic Union organized a felicitation programme for the newly professed, which included the cutting of a celebratory cake, lunch, and the departure of family members. Among the newly professed one has chosen to serve as a Salesian Brother. Their assignments for Philosophy and Bachelor of Arts studies are as follows: 8 Brothers at Salesian College, Dimapur, 3 Brothers at Aluva, 2 Brothers at Salesian College, Sonada and 1 Brother at Karunapuram. As they begin this new chapter of their Salesian vocational journey, let us continue to accompany them with our prayers and support.
“TOTALLY YOURS,O LORD.”
