On the 22nd and 23rd of August 2025, Don Bosco College Kohima hosted the trimonthly recollection for the practical trainees and student brothers from the Manipur and Nagaland region. Eighteen brothers were present for the recollection—ten practical trainees and eight student brothers. The recollection was animated by Rev. Fr Vice Provincial and centered around the theme: “Instructions for Practical Trainees.”
The sessions focused on the importance of understanding the ‘Salesian Charismatic Identity’, under which several fundamental principles were discussed: Salesian Presence, the Practice of the Preventive System, Practices of Piety, Safeguarding Young People, and Seeking Spiritual Guidance. Fr Vice Provincial also emphasized the need to become aware of one’s own identity, stating, ‘It is not enough that others know you as a Salesian; each individual must become aware of his identity as a Salesian’.
The recollection was enriched by moments of prayer, the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Fr Rector of DBCK, Fr Paulus from Christ the King Church, and Fr CJ Mathew made themselves available for confessions, providing the brothers with an opportunity to reconcile with God.
The two-day recollection concluded with a sharing session, during which the brothers shared their experiences in various communities, followed by closing remarks made by Fr Vice Provincial. Cl. Marai Huram, on behalf of all the brothers, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the DBCK community for their warm hospitality and prayerful environment.
