Don Bosco Sports Academy (DBSA), Dimapur, in collaboration with the All Nagaland Shaolin Kung-Fu Association (ANSKA), made history at the 4th South Asian International Games as its Shaolin Kung-Fu students swept all eight gold medals in their respective categories during the competition held in Kathmandu, Nepal. The event took place from 10th to 12th September.
The academy’s junior students set the tone early with outstanding performances. Saronthung Christopher Yanthan secured gold in the under-13 Kata division (45kg), while Abdul Sahir claimed victory in the under-13 Sanda competition (40kg). Paramita Paul completed the junior sweep with her gold medal performance in the under-14 Kata category (55kg).
DBSA’s senior students continued the winning streak with Namlang Zeliang taking gold in under-18 Sanda (50kg), Nyurhunlo Kent dominating the under-23 Sanda division (60kg), and Ayhunlo Jude Khing capturing the 28-year Sanda title (70kg).
In the masters’ category, the academy’s students maintained their perfect record as Razouleu Caroline Sorunuo won gold in Kata (under-80kg) and Meyiesielie Albert Sorunuo secured the Sanda championship (under-115kg).
The team competed under challenging circumstances in Nepal, with parents and guardians demonstrating strong confidence in DBSA’s preparation and training programs. This trust proved well-founded as the academy delivered exceptional results on the international stage.
Under the guidance of Lady Deputy Grandmaster and Chief General (Honorary) Nono Teresa Sorunuo of ANSKA, the DBSA team’s flawless performance reflects the academy’s commitment to excellence in sports education and its growing reputation in martial arts development within the Don Bosco educational network.
The eight gold medals represent not only individual achievements but also underscore DBSA and ANSKA’s emergence as significant forces in South Asian martial arts competitions.
