DIMAPUR, June 21: In a significant boost to its pastoral outreach and youth ministry, Salesian College, Dimapur, witnessed the blessing of ten new Hero cycles on Monday, dedicated for use by the brothers engaged in Sunday apostolate in neighbouring villages and communities.
The bicycles were blessed by Fr Elow Samuel, SDB, Rector of Salesian College, Dimapur, during a brief yet meaningful ceremony held on the college campus in the presence of the community members and brothers.
The newly acquired cycles are expected to facilitate the apostolic activities of the brothers, enabling them to reach out more effectively to children, youth, and families in the surrounding areas through Sunday Oratories and other pastoral initiatives.
At present, the college community comprises 49 brothers, including 19 first-year brothers, 15 second-year brothers, and 15 third-year brothers, all of whom actively participate in various forms of apostolic engagement as part of their Salesian formation.
Every Sunday, the brothers travel to nearby villages and neighbourhoods to conduct catechism classes, animate youth groups, organize games and recreational activities, and accompany children and young people in their faith journey. The Sunday apostolate forms an integral component of the Salesian formation programme, fostering among the brothers a spirit of service, missionary zeal, and closeness to the young.
Expressing gratitude on the occasion, the community acknowledged the generosity of benefactors and sponsors whose support made the acquisition of the cycles possible.
“The community remains deeply grateful to all our generous benefactors and sponsors for their continued support and encouragement in furthering the mission of serving the young,” a member of the community stated.
The addition of the new cycles is expected to further strengthen the institution’s outreach efforts and enhance the effectiveness of its pastoral ministry among the youth in the neighbouring communities.
