Don Bosco and other Private Schools Unite for Bharat Scouts & Guides District Summer Testing Camp at Tamenglong

Eight Schools Across Tamenglong Come Together to Foster Leadership, Discipline and Service Among Youth

Tamenglong, Manipur, June 27: Students from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Tamenglong, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Khoupum, and six other private and educational institutions across Tamenglong district came together for the 16th Bharat Scouts & Guides District Summer Testing Camp 2026, organised by the Bharat Scouts & Guides, Tamenglong District, Manipur. The five-day camp served as a vibrant platform for promoting leadership, discipline, teamwork, and community service among young people.

Held from June 23 to 27 under the theme “Level Up: Shaping a Better Future,” the camp witnessed the participation of 135 students, including 49 Scouts and 86 Guides, representing eight schools from across the district. The participating institutions were Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Tamenglong; Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Khoupum; EMRS Tamenglong; Pretty Lamb Institute; United Builders School; Christian Grammar School; Christian Heritage Institute; and Trinity Public School.

The week-long programme featured a rich blend of outdoor training, leadership formation, and practical skill-building activities. Participants underwent training in camp craft, first aid, pioneering and knotting, map reading, flag etiquette, leadership development, community service, physical fitness, and morning devotions. The activities were designed to strengthen confidence, self-reliance, teamwork, and adherence to the Scout and Guide Promise and Law.

For various competitions and assessments, the Scouts were divided into five patrols, while the Guides formed nine patrols. At the conclusion of the camp, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Khoupum, distinguished itself by winning the Best Patrol Award in both the Scouts and Guides categories, reflecting the school’s commitment to holistic education and character formation.

The camp concluded with a Closing and Investiture Ceremony, graced by Shri Joshia Panmei, Additional Superintendent of Police (MPS), Tamenglong, as the Chief Guest, and Shri Kaningai Riamei, Chairman, CHI, as the Guest of Honour, along with other distinguished officials.

In their addresses, the dignitaries praised the enthusiasm, discipline, and camaraderie displayed by the participants and encouraged them to continue living the values of service, leadership, integrity, and responsible citizenship in their daily lives.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the Investiture Ceremony, during which 69 new Scouts and Guides formally joined the Bharat Scouts & Guides movement by taking the Scout/Guide Promise. Participants who successfully completed the required testing standards were also awarded certificates and proficiency badges in recognition of their achievements.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of the district officials, Scout and Guide leaders, resource persons, teachers, parents, volunteers, and organisers whose dedicated efforts ensured the success of the camp.

The event ended with the National Anthem, leaving participants with enhanced leadership skills, lasting friendships, cherished memories, and a renewed commitment to the Scout motto, “Be Prepared.” The camp also strengthened collaboration among educational institutions in Tamenglong, demonstrating their shared commitment to nurturing responsible, disciplined, and service-oriented young citizens.
