In a vibrant display of creativity, environmental awareness, and teamwork, Don Bosco School, Borduria, organized a House-wise Skit Competition on the theme “Save Mother Earth” on 27 June 2026. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 165 students from Classes IV to VII, who used the medium of drama to spread a powerful message on environmental conservation and responsible stewardship of nature.
The programme commenced with a solemn prayer song, invoking God’s blessings on the participants and the success of the event. Setting the tone for the competition, Fr. C. J. Mathew, SDB, Rector, delivered the introductory address, emphasizing the urgent need to care for the environment in the face of the growing climate crisis.
In his thought-provoking message, Fr. Mathew explained the alarming effects of climate change and reminded the students that safeguarding nature is a shared responsibility. Referring to the recent cloudburst-triggered flash floods in Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh, he highlighted the devastating impact of environmental degradation on human life and communities. He urged everyone to begin with simple yet meaningful actions by keeping their surroundings clean, planting trees, reducing waste, and cultivating environmentally responsible habits. His address served as a timely reminder that caring for the Earth is not merely an option but a moral obligation.
The competition that followed was marked by remarkable enthusiasm and artistic excellence. Representing their respective houses, the students presented imaginative and thought-provoking skits that vividly portrayed pressing environmental issues such as pollution, deforestation, global warming, waste management, and the importance of preserving natural resources. Through convincing performances, meaningful dialogues, expressive acting, and creative storytelling, each house effectively communicated the urgent need to protect and preserve Mother Earth for future generations.
The audience responded with appreciation as the young performers demonstrated not only their acting talents but also a deep understanding of contemporary environmental challenges. The competition showcased the students’ creativity, confidence, teamwork, and commitment to promoting ecological awareness through the performing arts.
After a keen evaluation by the judges, the results were announced:
- First Place: Blue House – 101 points
- Second Place: Yellow House – 94 points
- Third Place: Green House – 92 points
- Fourth Place: Red House – 84 points
Congratulating all the participants, Mr. Ajay commended the students for their outstanding performances and reminded them that the true success of the programme would be measured not by trophies but by their willingness to practise what they had portrayed on stage. He encouraged every student to translate the messages of the skits into concrete daily actions by protecting nature and becoming responsible caretakers of the environment.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the Headmaster expressed sincere gratitude to the teachers for their dedicated efforts, patient guidance, and meticulous preparation of the students. He appreciated them for selecting such a timely and socially relevant theme that instilled environmental consciousness among the young learners. He also congratulated all the students for their enthusiastic participation, impressive performances, and wholehearted commitment to making the event both educational and inspiring.
The programme concluded on a fittingly Salesian note with the singing of the Hymn to Don Bosco, leaving everyone inspired to become ambassadors of environmental stewardship.
