Shajouba, Dimapur Province 24 May 2024 – The Don Bosco Group in Shajouba proudly announces the release of a new booklet titled “Question Paths to Climb Pravesh,” authored by Fr. PX Francis SDB. The booklet emphasizes the principles of scouting and the vital importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, particularly highlighting the negative impacts of smoking.
Drawing inspiration from Baden-Powell’s foundational work, “Scouting for Boys,” Fr. Francis underscores an unwritten component of the Scout Law: “A Scout is not a fool!” He elaborates that scouts, in their wisdom and commitment to health, should abstain from smoking. Smoking, he argues, diminishes physical health and undermines the sharpness and observance that scouting endeavours to instil in young people.
Fr. Francis makes a compelling case against smoking by pointing out its harmful effects, such as weakening the heart and damaging the sense of smell. He notes that many top athletes, celebrities, and role models excel without smoking, reinforcing the idea that true respect and admiration come from self-discipline, mature manners, and selfless courage rather than the superficial image of smoking.
A seasoned Scout Master since 1978, Fr. PX Francis Charuvila of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Dimapur Province, brings unparalleled expertise and commitment to his role. His extensive training includes the Basic Course, Advanced Course, and the prestigious Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB). Fr. Francis has further distinguished himself as a certified Trainer of Scout Masters, having completed the Assistant Leader Trainer Course (ALT) and the Leader Trainer Course (LT), making him the first-ever Leader Trainer of Manipur.
Through “Question Paths to Climb Pravesh,” Fr. Francis continues his mission to guide and inspire the next generation of scouts and guides, urging them to be role models and embody the best qualities of leadership and integrity.
This booklet is a valuable resource for all scouts, guides, and those committed to nurturing a healthy, disciplined, and exemplary life.
