Dimapur, 27 June 2023: A comprehensive two-day training programme on accounting principles was successfully conducted in Dimapur, with a focus on equipping newly appointed administrators, accountants, and other interested individuals with essential skills and knowledge. The programme, which commenced on 26 June 2023, concluded at 6:30 pm on 27 June 2023.
The training programme, attended by a total of 21 participants, covered a wide range of topics to ensure a holistic understanding of accounting practices. The sessions were led by distinguished professionals and experts in their respective fields, providing valuable insights and practical guidance to the attendees.
The programme commenced with an introductory session conducted by Fr. Economer, shedding light on the importance of accounting principles in effective financial management. This was followed by a motivational address by Fr. Provincial, emphasizing the significance of embracing new beginnings and inspiring the participants to excel in their roles.
Fr. Economer further enlightened the participants on navigating administration and shared invaluable perspectives for effective management. The session aimed to equip the attendees with the necessary tools and strategies to excel in their administrative duties.
One of the highlights of the programme was the session on accounting software, specifically Tally. Mr. Lelin Kujur, Senior Accountant of the Province, provided a general introduction to accounting software and conducted a hands-on demonstration on creating company profiles and ledger heads. The participants gained valuable insights into managing income ledgers, expense ledgers, fixed assets ledgers, and bank ledgers.
Furthermore, the training programme included a session on school software, Softecsol, with presentations from Sumit Gupta, Monmi Hazarika, Baishnabi Bora, and Meraj Ansari.
The participants learned about the practical aspects of passing entries by referring to cash book and bank books using Tally.
The training programme also focused on important topics such as insurance, budgeting, and banking. Mr. Kevichel Kera from New India Insurance provided a comprehensive understanding of insurance essentials, while Fr. Economer elucidated the art of effective budgeting, empowering the participants to master financial planning.
Participants were also enlightened about water purifiers by Mr. Biswajit Goswami from TATA Swach Tech, emphasizing the significance of clean water in daily life. Understanding banking practices was covered by Mr. Jaivin Joseph, Branch Manager of Dimapur, and Mr. Mahesh Kumar Jaju, Regional Sales Manager (TASC) from Kolkata.
Another crucial aspect of the programme was an informative session on Excel essentials by Mr. Peter Murry, ensuring participants gained proficiency in mastering the basics of this widely used spreadsheet software.
Fr. Roy George SDB, executive director of AIDA, presented on the topic of provident funds, providing the participants with comprehensive knowledge and effective execution strategies for ensuring financial security.
Throughout the training programme, participants actively engaged by sharing one good administrative practice each, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
The final day of the programme commenced with a holy mass presided over by Fr. Provincial, emphasizing the spiritual aspect of their professional endeavors. Mr. Lelin Kujur continued with the Tally session, focusing on checking entries for correction or any necessary changes.
After a brief break, participants were further trained in viewing and extracting day books, trial balances, and monthly returns using Tally. The post-lunch session featured a presentation by Mr. Biswajit Goswami on water purifiers, followed by a comprehensive session on understanding banking practices by Mr. Jaivin Joseph and Mr. Mahesh Kumar Jaju.
The training programme culminated with a vote of thanks by Fr Jose George, who expressed gratitude to Fr Economer and his team for organizing such a valuable and enriching event. He also acknowledged the Provincial House community, headed by Fr Linus, for their exceptional accommodation and food arrangements. A goodnight talk delivered by Fr Vice Provincial marked the end of the event.
The participants left the training programme equipped with enhanced knowledge and skills in accounting principles, software applications, budgeting, insurance, banking, and other relevant areas, enabling them to carry out their roles effectively and contribute to their organizations’ success.
