The annual spiritual retreat of the brothers of Salesian College, Dimapur was held from 2nd to 8th June 2026. The retreat commenced on the evening of 2nd June and was preached by Rev. Fr. V. M. Jerry, SDB. Over the course of six days, the retreat provided the participants with a profound opportunity for prayer, reflection, renewal, and spiritual growth.
The theme of the retreat, “Journey of Identity Restoration,” invited the brothers to embark on an inner journey of self-discovery and deeper communion with God. Through his insightful conferences and prayerful reflections, Fr. Jerry highlighted how various attachments and distractions symbolically represented as “mats, lots, boats and pots”—can gradually distort one’s true identity and weaken one’s relationship with God. He encouraged the participants to rediscover their authentic identity as beloved children of God and to realign their lives with their vocation and mission.
A distinctive feature of the retreat was the practical spiritual guidance offered by the retreat preacher. Fr. Jerry introduced various spiritual practices, including TAPPING (Thanksgiving, Adoration, Pardon, Praise and Worship, Intention, New Life, and Good Action), Spiritual Fencing, and Power Meditation. These exercises equipped the brothers with practical tools for nurturing their spiritual lives and remaining steadfast in God’s grace amidst the challenges of everyday life.
The retreat was marked by an atmosphere of silence, recollection, and prayer, enabling the participants to deepen their relationship with the Lord and renew their commitment to their Salesian vocation. The inspiring presence and guidance of Fr. Jerry, enriched by God’s grace and blessings, made the retreat a truly transformative experience. The six-day journey concluded with hearts renewed, spirits strengthened, and a deeper resolve to walk faithfully with Christ in service of the young and the Church.
