National Seminar Explores Indian Knowledge Systems and AI for Ethical, Spiritual Future

The inaugural day began with spot registration, followed by a ceremonial guard of honour for the chief guest, Prof. Kali Nath Jha of Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya. The opening session included flag hoisting, a prayer song, and blessings by Fr. Kamil Horo, SDB, Rector. Welcoming the gathering, seminar convenor Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss, SDB, Principal of Don Bosco College Golaghat, highlighted the need to integrate AI with spiritual values, ethics, culture, and sustainability. Dignitaries and resource persons from several Indian states were felicitated, and the session concluded with a vote of thanks by Vice Principal Dr. Sr. Sheela Paul.

Three technical sessions on the first day addressed Cultural Sensitivity through AI, Environmental Ethics in Indian Knowledge Systems for Sustainable Development, and Ethical Conduct of AI in Religion and Spiritualism. The sessions were chaired by leading academics and thinkers, including Padma Shri awardee Jadav Payeng. The day concluded with vibrant cultural performances representing diverse Indian traditions from Assam and across the country.

Day two featured four technical sessions focusing on Spiritual Growth through AI, Multicultural Education, AI in Cultural Preservation, and Indian Knowledge Systems in Modern Education under NEP 2020, chaired by senior academicians from universities in the Northeast and beyond.

The valedictory programme included addresses by Fr. Lokho Alaye, SDB, and the chief guest Prof. G. Singaiah, Vice Chancellor, BSSRV. The session also featured cultural performances, certificate distribution, and the presentation of the convenor’s report.

In total, 140 research and concept papers by 175 researchers from 96 institutions across 15 states were presented in hybrid mode, benefiting over 600 participants nationwide. Reflecting on the seminar’s impact, Dr. Amaladoss noted that the platform “envisions a Viksit Bharat where technology uplifts spirituality and sustainability,” a sentiment widely echoed by participants who praised the seminar for ethically bridging Indian Knowledge Systems and artificial intelligence.
