10th February 2026 was indeed a memorable day in the golden annals of Don Bosco, and in particular the bosconians and the parents of DBHSS Dergaon. It was on that day the school extension building of Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School, Dergaon was jointly inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Provincial and Shri. Bhabendra Bharali MLA, Dergaon. It was blessed very Rev. Fr. Pampackal Joseph sdb, the Salesian Provincial of the Province of Dimapur.
The inaugural function began at 10.30 am. The Dignitaries were received duely at the School Entrance gate amid fitting Bihu dance and flanked by the senior class students. They were led to the school auditorium with the crowd of cheering students. Several confreres from the neighbouring communities were present for the occasion. All the invited dignitaries were felicitated with Kamusas. The cultural fiesta kicked off with the solemn cultural dances. Speaking on the Occasion Fr. Dr. Bosco Perianayagam sdb, the in-charge gave a short history of growth and development of DBS Dergaon from its inception 1995 to 2026, reminding the people that the DB institution was committed to the quality education and holistic formation of the youth of locality. He also underscored the importance of the contributions made by the chief architect Fr. Mathew C. Paul, the staff and parents and several others, involved in the construction of the extension building. He also thanked the community members Frs. Thomas, Rajesh Lakra and Christudoss Antony, for their constant support and encouragement during the construction of new school extension building.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Bhabendra Bharali, the MLA acknowledged the tangible contribution made by Don Bosco fathers to the public of Dergaon. This extension building is an expression of Salesians towards the local people and their culture. He appreciated the Yeoman service given by Don Bosco institutions for the youth of Dergaon. Speaking on the occasion Rev. Fr. Pampackal Joseph highlighted the contribution of the Salesians and appreciated the hospitality and friendly attitude of the local public towards the institution.
After the cultural fiesta there was the inauguration and blessing of the New School Building extension. It was followed by the unveiling of memorial stone stating the importance of the day. Thereafter, the parents and students were served snacks and Juice. The new building was allowed for the public visit – to have a Dekho.
