Fostering Research Excellence: Don Bosco College’s, Maram, International Workshop on Innovative Research Writing

Don Bosco College, Maram recently hosted a three-day international-level workshop on Innovative Research Writing organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram. Prof. George Thadathil SDB, the General Coordinator of Salesian Higher Education International (SHEI) Global Network, Rome, Italy was the resource person. The event, held from 21st to 23rd November, 2024 aimed to enhance research skills, foster critical thinking, and encourage innovative approaches to academic research.

The workshop brought together a diverse group of faculty members, research scholars and students from various institutions across the country. The sessions were designed to address pressing issues in contemporary research, with a particular focus on the complexities of the ongoing crisis in Manipur.

Total of 60 post graduate students and staff participated on the first day of the workshop and 70 research scholars and faculty members on the second and third day of the workshop where actively participated in all the sessions and gained valuable insights.

By focusing on the current situations of conflict in Manipur, the following key topics covered during the workshop.

  • Innovative Research Writing Techniques: Participants explored cutting-edge techniques for crafting compelling research papers, dissertations, and theses.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: The workshop delved into various data collection methods, such as surveys, interviews, and archival research. Participants also learned how to effectively analyze and interpret qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Research Ethics and Integrity: Sessions were dedicated to discussing ethical considerations in research, ensuring academic honesty, and avoiding plagiarism.
  • Peer Review and Publication Process: Participants gained insights into the peer review process and the strategies for successful publication in academic journals.

The workshop also included interactive sessions, group discussions, and panel discussions to facilitate knowledge sharing and networking among participants. Experienced researchers and academicians shared their expertise and provided valuable guidance to early-career researchers.

The organizers of the workshop expressed their satisfaction with the outcome of the event. They emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering a vibrant research culture and contributing to the advancement of knowledge. The workshop provided a platform for researchers to connect, collaborate, and inspire each other to pursue innovative research. The participants brought out a draft working document on the current conflict situation of Manipur as an outcome of the workshop.
